At Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany Axel lead the award-winning corporate rebrand in 2015, introducing a new brand strategy and bold visual identity that both reflect the company’s transformation from a traditional supplier of pharmaceuticals and chemicals into a vibrant science and technology company.
Since then, Axel was responsible for various internal brand embedding programs and campaigns, including the establishment of a dedicated global network of brand ambassadors and the development of a virtual reality (VR) brand experience. He is also driving the company’s digital brand campaign #catchcurious (curiosity.emdgroup.com) which propels the idea of curiosity as the driving force behind innovation and human progress among key opinion leaders and social influencers.
Prior to joining Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany in 2011 Axel held corporate and financial communications positions at leading European pharmaceutical wholesaler and pharmacy operator Celesio (now part of McKesson Corporation), and strategic communications advisory firm Hering Schuppener Consulting.
